At Botany we genuinely care about the environment, so this shirt is made using cotton that is ethically grown and harvested by growers belonging to the US Cotton Trust Protocol which ensures ethical and sustainable production. Six key sustainability metrics are taken in to account: land use, soil carbon, water management, soil loss, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy efficiency.
Environmental responsibility is also taken into consideration in the dye process. Garments are pigment dyed after being sewn which reduces waste. The pigment method also uses approximately 3x less water and up to 40% less energy than than the standard dye process.
